A Novel, Low Power Biosensor for Real Time Monitoring of Creatinine and Urea in Peritoneal Dialysis
نویسندگان
چکیده
Novel biosensors, based on immobilized creatininase, creatinase and urease are developed, using ISFETs with weak inversion at pH 6-8 and 37.0C. The ISFETs with circuitry, demonstrate a linear relationship of urea and creatinine at the range of 0-200 mM and 0-20 mM, respectively. Preliminary results show that biosensors operating in weak inversion mode can eliminate many of the disadvantages of ISFETs operating in the strong inversion region, providing a wide dynamic range output in nanoAmp. Such characteristics fit the analytical requirements for improving real-time monitoring in Peritoneal Dialysis (PD). Further work covers stability of ISFET sensors biased with CMOS circuits in the weak inversion mode working in the room temperature of 15°C to 40°C.

Optimal Wavelength Selection in Ultraviolet Spectroscopy for the Estimation of Toxin Reduction Ratio during Hemodialysis
Introduction The concentration of substances, including urea, creatinine, and uric acid, can be used as an index to measure toxic uremic solutes in the blood during dialysis and interdialytic intervals. The on-line monitoring of toxin concentration allows for the clearance measurement of some low-molecular-weight solutes at any time during hemodialysis. The aim of this study was to determine the...
متن کاملPeritoneal transport: getting more complicated
A high clearance of low-molecular substances such as urea and creatinine is generally considered advantageous in dialysis. The discovery in the 1990s of increased morbidity [1] and mortality [2, 3] in peritoneal dialysis (PD) patients with fast low-molecular (e.g. glucose, creatinine and urea) peritoneal transport (FLMT, also called ‘high transport’) was thus counterintuitive. Several explanati...
متن کاملAdequate dialysis? Measurement of KT/V in a pediatric peritoneal dialysis population.
OBJECTIVE To measure the urea and creatinine kinetics in a pediatric population. PATIENTS AND METHODS In 19 children treated with peritoneal dialysis (PD) KT/V, urea and creatinine clearances (Ccr) were measured. Thirteen children were on continuous ambulatory peritoneal dialysis (CAPD) and 6 on highly intermittent peritoneal dialysis (NIPD). RESULTS Mean KT/V per week was 2.31 +/- 0.78 and...
متن کاملگزارش سه مورد CVVHD) Continous Venovenous Hemodialysis)
Some of ICU patients with Acute Renal Failure (ARF) require dialysis. Conventional or intermittent hemodialysis (HD) may cause hypotension and insufficient loss of fluids and toxins from blood. Peritoneal dialysis also my cause peritonitis and has lower efficiency than HD. We did continuous Venovenous Hemodialysis (CVVHD) for three ICU patients with ARF in Saint-Zahra Medical Center for the fir...
متن کاملNo significant differences in peritoneal fluid handling in children using PH-neutral or acidic solutions.
OBJECTIVES Differences in peritoneal fluid handling in the acute setting can be expected if children are converted to pH-neutral dialysis solutions because conventional acidic solutions exert toxic effects on peritoneal mesothelial cells and microcirculation. Peritoneal fluid kinetics was therefore investigated with both types of solutions in a group of children. DESIGN Peritoneal equilibrati...
